Worcester City Council spent about £1,400 reviewing and consulting on a hackney fare rise that was then scrapped after the taxi association changed tack.
LDR / Hello Rayo coverage of the 15 September full council says Worcester Taxi Association had sought higher minimum charges in June, but later said a member survey showed little support, so the hike was dropped. Cllr Alex Mace branded the U-turn “embarrassing”; licensing chair Richard Udall confirmed the £1,400 cost, shared the frustration, and said acting on the association’s request then reversing showed consultation works. An earlier BBC report had detailed proposed Tariff 1/2 flag rises amid fuel and running-cost pressures.
