City of Wolverhampton Council’s taxi compliance officers have taken the Get Home Safe campaign to University of Wolverhampton students.
Reporting says the team outlined how to check vehicle licence plates and driver badges before boarding, stressing the legal split: hackneys can be hailed or taken from ranks; private hire must be booked via a licensed operator so a journey record links passenger, driver and vehicle. Unbooked street approaches to PHVs are unlawful. The briefing targets late-night students who might jump into the first available car without checking licensing.
