Uber’s Fife booking-office bid draws 400-plus objections

Operators cited safety, oversight and economic impact before a special licensing hearing on the Rosyth application.

Uber Scot Ltd’s application for a 24/7 taxi booking office at Rosyth Business Centre attracted more than 400 objections before Fife Council’s special Regulation and Licensing Committee hearing.

The Courier reported local operators and drivers raising public-safety concerns over driver verification, vehicle testing, whether Uber drivers would meet the same safeguarding standards, and the economic impact on existing firms. Objectors also questioned whether remote app dispatch meant meaningful on-site management in Fife. The objections were later ruled incompetent mid-hearing and the licence approved — covered in related TaxiFeed follow-ups.
