A MotorTrend tester’s second Tesla Cybercab ride in Austin failed when the passenger screen crashed to an “Aw, Snap!” error and froze.
The magazine reports a warning reading “Issue identified—resolution in progress,” no usable route display, and the robotaxi returning to the pickup spot while the app still showed the ride had not begun. The rider used the physical door handle to exit, cancelled at no cost and filed an error report; the Cybercab later drove away. About 45 Cybercabs were operating in Austin after the 4 September public launch. Pricing was compared unfavourably with a short Lyft rescue trip; Tesla says fares should fall as the fleet grows. The piece concludes Tesla still trails Waymo’s overall robotaxi experience.
