Liverpool taxis face mandatory passenger-feedback QR codes

Licensing committee plan would put Have Your Say QR codes in every licensed cab and PHV for easier complaints.

Liverpool City Council’s licensing papers propose — and local follow-up reporting says councillors approved — mandatory QR codes in every licensed taxi and private hire vehicle.

The codes would open the council’s Have Your Say system so passengers can leave compliments, concerns or complaints without hunting for the right form. Officers framed the Inclusive Service Plan around accessibility, especially for disabled passengers, after user groups said the present process deters feedback. Committee discussion stressed one minor complaint should not automatically mean discipline; the aim is a clearer record and spotting repeat issues. Out-of-area plates (Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens) still sit with those authorities. An implementation date was not fixed in the published draft.
