Alison Griffiths, Conservative MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether the Government's proposed review of airport drop-off charges will consider additional charges imposed on passengers by taxi and private hire operators to recover airport drop-off fees, including those proposed by Transport for London at Heathrow and London City airports. The question, UIN 39162, was tabled on 29 October 2026. Keir Mather answered on 3 November.
The reply
Concerns about the impact of drop-off charges on airport users are recognised. Car parking at airports is expected to be managed appropriately, and consumers to be treated fairly. The Government has committed to a review of the impact of airport drop-off charges on passengers, including how those charges affect access to airports. The detailed scope will be developed as part of the review process.
What was not answered
Whether the taxi and private hire extras at Heathrow and London City are included is left to the detailed scope. No date is set for the review.
