Glasgow’s Queen Margaret Drive taxi rank will stay after licensing councillors rejected a resident’s bid to revoke it.
Glasgow Times reports the complainant called the 24/7 rank between Ruskin Lane and Great Western Road overcrowded, unfit and dangerous — citing double-parking and U-turns across four lanes — and floated a Great Western Road alternative. More than 30 trade objections followed. Glasgow Taxis’ Dougie McPherson said few spots outside major stations justify a rank more; Unite and others called it historic high-footfall infrastructure and said road offences belong with Police Scotland. The committee refused revocation.
