The Mayfair Chippy will give the first 50 black cab drivers free takeaway fish and chips on each Tuesday in November. Its own page sets the dates as 3, 10, 17 and 24 November, at the Mayfair restaurant only, 14 North Audley Street, W1K 6WE. London Now reported the giveaway on 27 October. Oxford Street
The meals are linked to the traffic-free stretch of Oxford Street between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street, dated from Monday 26 October. Black cabs can no longer use it. The length given is almost a kilometre, and that figure is the restaurant's. In the same account the trade was already under pressure, and black cab drivers had spread the word from the shop's opening in 2015. The closure is already on TaxiFeed.
The four Tuesdays
Collection is takeaway only, and the terms describe it as available all day. At North Audley Street the listed takeaway hours are 10.30am to 9.30pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 10.30am to 10.30pm on Friday and Saturday. A driver shows a valid taxi driver's badge or licence. The limit is the first 50 cabbies on each of those Tuesdays. That number is a cap set by the restaurant, not a count of meals given out. Management reserves the right to amend or withdraw the offer. Passengers who arrive by cab
The passenger deal is buy one, get one free on The Mayfair Classic, and it is dine-in only. A same-day black cab receipt, on paper or in an app, has to be shown on arrival, and the fare including the tip has to be at least £20. One free Mayfair Classic is allowed for two guests, and the party can be no larger than four. The days are Monday to Friday, from 26 October to 31 December 2026, at Mayfair and at Knightsbridge. Private hire vehicles are not included, and the offer cannot be used with any other promotion.
