Finnish taxis will get distinctive green registration plates with black characters under a government decree tied to tighter taxi rules.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications / Traficom say plates can be ordered from 1 January 2027 and become mandatory for all taxi-transport vehicles — including ride-hail — from 1 July 2027, after vehicles are linked to a valid transport licence. Roof taxi signs and mandatory taximeters (checks from February 2027) form part of the package after Parliament approved taxi-regulation changes. Yle notes the move follows concerns over pricing, safety and quality since market liberalisation in 2018, with clearer pre-journey fare information and stronger criminal-background scrutiny also rolling in.
