Council confirms extra checks at East Renfrewshire taxi stances

Additional enforcement began on 29 October at taxi stances in Clarkston and Thornliebank.

East Renfrewshire Council has told the East Renfrewshire Licensed Drivers' Association that additional enforcement attention began on Thursday 29 October 2026 at the taxi stances on Mearns Road, Clarkston, and Kennishead Road, Thornliebank. The figure given for parking tickets at taxi stances across East Renfrewshire is 135 over the last six months. Community Safety Officers are to give these locations additional attention whenever operationally possible. Visits and the tickets issued will be monitored.

The association

The association welcomed the reply and will keep checking whether drivers see an improvement.

"Taxi stances are provided for licensed taxis and must remain accessible to the drivers and passengers who rely on them.

"We'll continue working with East Renfrewshire Council to address these ongoing concerns."
