Bracknell school-run taxi director David Park was jailed for six years after cheating HMRC of hundreds of thousands in VAT paid by councils.
Get Reading / HMRC coverage says Park’s Berkshire Education Travel invoiced about £777,000 VAT for home-to-school services — more than £697,000 from Bracknell Forest and £79,000 from Wokingham — then failed to pay it over. A substantial share helped fund a £3.8m rural Berkshire mansion. After a Reading Crown Court trial he and the company were convicted of cheating the public revenue and transferring criminal property. He was also disqualified as a director for seven years; HMRC sought recovery of the money.
