A Southampton private hire driver has lost his licence with immediate effect after seven complaints, a Port of Southampton ban and an undeclared speeding offence.
The Daily Echo and PHTM report a licensing sub-committee hearing on 16 September 2026, held behind closed doors. The unnamed driver did not attend. Complaints included a June allegation that a passenger’s sleeping wife was thrown forward and left “shocked and traumatised,” and a July claim of swerving near pedestrians. He denied the driving complaints by email but did not supply requested dashcam footage. Members also noted a three-month Associated British Ports dock ban and a failure to disclose speeding in breach of conditions. He had surrendered his vehicle licence and tried to surrender the driver’s licence; the committee disregarded that and found him not fit and proper.
