Denbighshire keeps taxi tariff frozen through 2027

Most trade respondents oppose rise; next review in 2027 for possible 2028 change.

Denbighshire hackney-carriage fares are set to stay unchanged through 2027 after most consulted drivers backed no increase.

Reporting says Licensing Committee was due to consider the recommendation on 15 September, with another annual review in 2027 and any change possibly from 2028. Current rates took effect 8 October 2025 after 20% rises on Tariff 1 and 3. Public and trade survey replies were “extremely low”; a May workshop covered costs and affordability. Of about a dozen licence-holder responses, a majority favoured retaining fares (one wanted CPI, others alternatives such as Guildford costing or booking fees). Officers said there was insufficient support for a 2027 rise, balancing driver costs against passenger affordability.
