Athens taxi driver identified after 206 km/h TikTok run

Police identified a 46-year-old Athens taxi driver after a TikTok live showed 206 km/h on the Attiki Odos near Koropi.

Greek police have identified a 46-year-old Athens taxi driver after a TikTok livestream showed his cab travelling at up to 206 km/h (about 128 mph) on the Attiki Odos motorway toward Athens International Airport.

The Special Unit for Information and Social Network Analysis within Attica’s traffic accident prevention teams (O.E.P.T.A.), working with Attiki Odos traffic police, analysed the footage and identified the man as both the driver and the account holder behind the broadcast. A case file for dangerous driving has been submitted to the Athens prosecutor.

What the video showed

Greek news outlets report that an anonymous complaint emailed to police on 11 September 2026 included clip material from the live stream, with a phone camera pointed at the speedometer of a yellow Skoda Octavia.

On the stretch near Koropi, on the Elefsina-to-airport carriageway around the airport exit, the posted limit is 100 km/h (62 mph) before dropping to 70 km/h (43 mph). The speedometer reading in the video is reported to have peaked at 206 km/h, then fallen as the driver slowed, with the stream ending when the display showed 155 km/h (96 mph).

Previous road offences

Athens Voice and Newsbomb, citing the investigation, say the same driver already had traffic penalties for dangerous manoeuvres, using a mobile phone while driving, and speeding — including 140 km/h (87 mph) in an 80 km/h (50 mph) limit — plus a separate speeding matter recorded in 2016 by Athens Airport Police.

Kathimerini and eKathimerini’s shorter police briefings confirm the identification, the Koropi location toward the airport, the 100/70 km/h limits, and the dangerous-driving case file. Some Greek outlets also described an arrest; the consistent official line across Kathimerini, eKathimerini and related reports is that officers identified the driver and passed a dangerous-driving file to prosecutors.
