Andorra’s taxi trade and the Andorran firm CityXerpa have a single booking centre. Passengers can book through the Taxi Andorra app, the mobility section of the CityXerpa app, by phone or by WhatsApp. Both apps feed the same centre, the Central de Reserves del Taxi.
The government said on 22 April that Taxi Andorra was already on Apple and Android. El Diari d’Andorra reported on 6 May that mobile booking was open. Until then the centre took only calls and WhatsApp messages.
What the passenger gets
The apps show the car, an estimated pickup time and the journey on a map. A trip can be booked ahead. The screens are in Catalan, Spanish, French and English.
The fare on the screen is only a guide. The meter sets the price. Payment is in the car, in cash or by card. Paying inside the app is planned for a later stage. In January the trade had talked about fixed prices and in-app payment, but both were still to be settled with the government. That is not how the first version works.
The CityXerpa deal
On 18 December 2025 the government signed an agreement with the two associations, the Associació de Taxistes d’Andorra and the Associació de Taxistes Interurbans. Their presidents are Victor Ambor and Armando Godoy. The trade promised one booking centre, based in Andorra, with its own app, working by 31 March 2026. The government put in €10,000. Within a year the two associations are to become one.
The centre opened over Easter, just after that date. By 9 April it had taken more than 2,500 jobs in eight days, and more than 90 per cent of drivers were on it. Those figures are from that week.
CityXerpa is the technology supplier and runs the digital system and the call centre with the trade. Taxitronic and Taximés are also providing technical support. On the CityXerpa app the taxi is offered first. The firm’s own private-hire cars are the dearer option. At the January signing, Bernat Altimir, CityXerpa’s chief executive, said that service would cost about 50 per cent more than a taxi.
The agreement says a driver on the new centre cannot also work on another platform. Godoy called that a minimum condition, so the new system would not be undercut. He also said the project came from the need to modernise, not from Uber’s arrival. The paper reported the clause as aimed at Uber.
The rule behind it
On 22 April the cabinet approved a new taxi and private-hire regulation. El Diari reported that it came into force on 30 April and gave drivers two months to join a booking centre. A driver who works outside one can be warned and, if the breaches are made out, can lose the licence. A rival centre needs at least 25 per cent of the trade.
A taxi cannot carry the branding of another transport service. A private-hire car must be pre-booked, cannot ply the street, and must return to base unless another booking is already in. The same licence can now cover two vehicles. The paper also reported that every taxi must have a card machine by 1 January 2027.
