Amsterdam police filed 351 reports on ADE taxi drivers

Sixteen taxis were seized, and one driver was more than 45 km/h over the limit with passengers aboard.

NL Times reported on 4 November 2026 that Amsterdam traffic police filed 351 official reports on taxi drivers during the Amsterdam Dance Event, which ran in the city from 21 to 26 October. Verkeerspolitie Amsterdam set the figures out on Instagram.

The checks

Specialist enforcement officers from the Municipality of Amsterdam joined the traffic police. The extra checks were static and mobile, some in uniform and some in plain clothes, around the event venues. On the Friday night, officers who specialise in taxi enforcement came from other parts of the country. Staff from the Public Prosecution Service followed the operation, and a prosecutor attended.

Sixteen taxis were seized for investigation. Twenty-five official reports covered, among other things, unlicensed drivers and drivers who would not cooperate with a check. The 351 reports included 156 for offences linked to passenger-transport law.

Several drivers had not recorded their journeys and rest times properly, were using vehicles with technical defects, or had ignored basic traffic rules. One driver, with passengers in the car, was more than 45 km/h over the limit in a built-up area and overtook on the right. The traffic police referred that driver to the CBR for an Educatieve Maatregel Gedrag.
