Albies Taxis approved for Bradwell base of 150 vehicles

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has approved an Albies Taxis base at Marine House for up to 150 vehicles.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has granted planning permission for Albies Taxis to turn Marine House and its yard at Marine Park, on Gapton Hall Road in Bradwell, into a taxi operating base.

Application 06/26/0628/F was decided on 14 October 2026 and is recorded as approved with conditions. The permission changes the existing commercial building and yard to a taxi operating base in a use class of its own. The register describes taxi control and administrative offices, storage for up to 150 taxi and private-hire vehicles, servicing, repairs and MOT testing, use of the existing wash-down area for cleaning and valeting, a 40,000-litre above-ground double-bunded diesel storage and dispensing tank, and staff and visitor parking.

The applicant is Albies Taxis of Suffling Road, Great Yarmouth. The site lies in the parish of Bradwell North. The council received the application on 6 August 2026 and validated it on 24 August 2026.

How the base is to be run

The Great Yarmouth Mercury reports the hours and staffing set out for the site. The warehouse is for servicing, mechanical repairs, tyre work, routine inspections, maintenance and MOT testing, from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm on Saturday. An office in that building is for taxi calling, handling and control, together with accounts, school-transport administration and transport management. The office is to run 24 hours a day through the year, with two call handlers normally on duty. Accounts and school-transport work is generally from 7am to 6pm each day. The scheme adds 20 parking spaces for staff and visitors and two accessible spaces, with separate areas for the fleet. Fifteen full-time employees and 12 part-time staff are to work on site. Officers considered the plans acceptable and recommended approval.
