West Kingston cabbie grazed after passenger opens fire

46-year-old hit on White Road near Calvary Cemetery; gunman fled — link to earlier Cross Road fight probed.

A Jamaica taxi driver was grazed in the arm when a man posing as a passenger shot at him in West Kingston, police say.

Jamaica Observer reports the 46-year-old was ferrying passengers about 5.50pm when a man boarded for White Road. Near Calvary Cemetery the passenger asked to stop, then fired once as the driver sought the fare, grazing his right arm. The suspect left, aimed again and tried to fire; the cabbie fled through the front passenger door into Greenwich Park and was helped to Trench Town Police Station, then treated and released at Kingston Public Hospital. Police believe the attack may relate to an argument and fight in Cross Road, St Andrew, weeks earlier, and launched a manhunt for the gunman who escaped on foot.
