West Cumbria taxi fares likely up under Cumberland £7 plan

Allerdale +£1, Copeland +80p on two-mile tariff; executive to advertise 16 September.

Taxi fares in West Cumbria look set to rise if Cumberland Council advertises a harmonised £7 two-mile hackney tariff.

Cumbria Crack reports the executive meets at Allerdale House, Workington, on 16 September. Trade requested the change over fuel and operating costs. Allerdale would rise by £1, Copeland by 80p, Carlisle unchanged, replacing legacy district cards after the April 2023 merger. Members are recommended to agree advertisement; objections not withdrawn return for a final decision. The meter tariff covers hackney carriages only.
