Waymo drives through Denver farmers’ market during setup

Robotaxi entered South Pearl Street market past barricades; no injuries. Police say they cannot ticket a driverless car.

A Waymo robotaxi drove through Denver’s South Pearl Street Farmers Market while vendors were setting up on Sunday 20 September 2026.

Denver7 and Denver Gazette report the vehicle went around barricades near Washington Street and Florida Avenue, turned onto South Pearl Street and moved slowly through the closed street. Market staff walked ahead to warn vendors; no one was hurt. Organisers said access points stay open for authorised vendor traffic during setup. Waymo said community trust and safety are priorities and it is learning from the incident. Denver police and Colorado State Patrol said state law has no mechanism to cite a driverless vehicle for a moving violation because there is no driver to ticket.
