A2B Taxis Norwich has put a Porsche Taycan into everyday service, including pick-ups and drop-offs at Norwich Airport.
The Eastern Daily Press reports the electric sports car is valued at about £135,000. A driver called it a "real icebreaker", and passengers have been surprised to find a Porsche waiting rather than a conventional saloon.
A2B is the official authorised taxi partner at Norwich Airport, with a booking desk in the terminal. On its own site the firm lists a Porsche Taycan 4S among its executive hire fleet, alongside Tesla Model 3 and Model Y cars and Mercedes V-Class MPVs. The Taycan is in full-time use and can be requested for executive bookings via A2B’s online booking form or by calling 01603 552324.
Bought for private hire
The car came from a dealership on Hall Road in Norwich. Staff there were taken aback by the request. The sales manager said he had never heard of a Porsche being bought for private hire and believes it may be the only one used that way in the country — a claim that has not been independently verified.
An A2B spokeswoman told the EDP: "Passengers have been loving the luxurious vehicles that they can travel in when ordering a taxi from Norwich Airport’s taxi and private hire provider A2B Taxis Norwich." A company spokesman added that passengers often think the firm is joking when told to look for the Porsche.
