Indian taxi driver Monu Kumar, 40, has been convicted of raping and murdering a 60-year-old woman in Mohali, Punjab, after taking her from her home and dumping her body near a school.
AOL / Hindustan Times reporting says her husband found her missing when he returned from work on 27 February 2024; her body was found the next day. Kumar, already in custody on another rape-murder, confessed and was found guilty. Local media say he previously raped and killed a 21-year-old student (struck with a stone) and a 40-year-old woman found in bushes in January 2022, with DNA linking the cases. He was sentenced to life last month with fines under murder and aggravated rape provisions (reported as 7 lakh and 50,000 rupees).
