Ministers open to airport drop-off charge review after MPs’ push

Clause 7 Civil Aviation Bill; Cadbury flags night PT gaps and taxi/PHV access as afterthought.

The Government has said it has no objection to reviewing airport parking and drop-off charges after MPs highlighted taxi, PHV and community impacts.

trade reporting covers Commons second reading of the Civil Aviation Bill on 9 September. Transport Minister Keir Mather backed a review but said terms and timing need care on transparency, ability to pay and free drop-off points. Transport Committee chair Ruth Cadbury called UK airport public transport woeful at night and said taxi/PHV access is often an afterthought. Uxbridge MP Danny Beales linked charges to neighbourhood displacement near Heathrow. Shadow Richard Holden cited steep Gatwick and Luton fees; Mid Cheshire’s Andrew Cooper flagged Manchester’s £5.50–£25 windows. Blue Badge exemptions were urged. No final terms of reference were set.
