Mérida riders can request female Uber drivers via Uber Mujeres

Rolls out 6am–11pm across Yucatán capital; on-demand, Reserve or standing preference — no fare premium.

Uber users in Mérida can now request a female driver as Uber Mujeres reaches the Yucatán capital.

Yucatán Magazine reports riders can pick a woman driver for an immediate trip, book via Uber Reserve (from about 30 minutes ahead) or set a standing preference; the option runs 6am–11pm with standard fares. Cecilia Román of Uber Mexico said surveys showed riders wanted the counterpart to Ellas, which has let female drivers take only female passengers since late 2020. Longer waits are possible because women are still a minority of drivers; the app may offer a male driver if no woman is nearby. Mérida is among 20 Mexican cities in the wider rollout after five launch cities earlier in the year; first use asks riders to confirm gender.
