London cab trade warns TX5 parts shortages risk fleet

Legal Taxi: long waits for TX parts as LEVC winds production; TfL says it would act if vehicle supply fails.

London’s black-cab trade is warning that TX5 parts shortages could shrink the licensed fleet further as LEVC ends current production.

Legal Taxi, citing LEVC accounts to end-2025 and driver reports of “substantial delays” for components, says self-employed cabbies risk income loss while vehicles sit off the road. Accounts describe TX5 production requirements completed and the model at the end of its lifecycle, with TX6 in development but timing unclear — trade reporting reporting points to a next-generation UK launch towards H2 2027. The firm wants LEVC commitments on aftersales stock. TfL says it works with the trade and manufacturers and “would take action” if suitable vehicle supply became a problem, while noting zero-emission-capable taxis remain accessible.
