Liverpool suspended a private hire vehicle for a cracked tyre

The council says the driver hit a kerb a few hours earlier. The car stayed off until the tyre was replaced.

Liverpool City Council's licensing account said a private hire vehicle was suspended until a tyre was replaced. The driver stated that he had hit a kerb a few hours earlier. The post is from 15 October 2026. TaxiPoint reported it on 17 October.

What the account wrote

LCC Licensing wrote: "This PHV was recently suspended until the tyre was replaced. The driver stated that he had hit a kerb a few hours earlier."

It added: "A reminder to all drivers, if you hit a kerb, check your tyres immediately and seek a professional inspection if there's any damage."

The photograph with the post shows a crack in the sidewall of a tyre. The post does not name the driver. It does not say which council licensed the vehicle, where it was checked, or how long it stayed off the road.
