Kyiv taxi apps see demand spike in long air-raid alerts

Bolt reports 30–50% more ride requests citywide; Uklon says fewer drivers online as GPS and safety risks bite.

Taxi demand in Kyiv climbs during prolonged air-raid alerts even as fewer drivers stay available, ride-hail firms told Interfax-Ukraine.

Bolt Ukraine GM Serhiy Pavlyk said citywide requests rise about 30–50% versus normal, and can more than double near stations, business hubs and large housing blocks — leaving more customers than cars. Uklon’s Olena Orlova confirmed fewer drivers able to accept jobs amid safety risk, GPS problems and difficult traffic; completed trips can still fall at alert peaks. Both use dynamic pricing (Bolt by district) so fares rise while supply is short and ease when balance returns. Ukrainian authorities have discussed alert-period fare caps; Uklon has warned artificial ceilings could leave residents without urgent rides.
