Trusted Travel Norfolk Ltd has applied for a private hire office on the ground floor of 109 Norfolk Street in King's Lynn, where there is now a restaurant. The hot food takeaway would remain. The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk has not decided the application. The Eastern Daily Press reported the plans on 18 October 2026.
What the council has been asked to allow
The proposal, reference 26/01546/CU, is a change of use of the ground floor from a restaurant and hot food takeaway to a private hire taxi office and a hot food takeaway. The council's description classes the taxi office as sui generis, a use in a class of its own. The application was received on 18 September 2026 and validated on 14 October 2026. The expected decision level is delegated. The determination deadline is 9 December 2026, and no committee date is listed.
The council record names Trusted Travel Norfolk Ltd as the applicant and JCJ Planning as the agent. The premises are 109 Norfolk Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 1AQ. The council application is still awaiting a decision.
The two sides of The Catch
The Eastern Daily Press reported the layout in the planning papers, and the Environment Agency's view of the flood risk. The eastern side, next to the Eagle Hotel, is a hot food takeaway, and the western side is the restaurant. Both are called The Catch. The takeaway and a flat on the first floor would remain unchanged. No external alterations are proposed, so the appearance of the building would stay the same. The planning statement describes the site as "located within a town centre and an area with a high number of uses associated with the night-time economy." The papers, as reported, give the Environment Agency's description of the property as being at low risk from flooding.
A planning file, not an operator's licence
Trusted Travel Norfolk Limited, company number 16174965, was incorporated on 10 January 2025. Companies House lists it as active. Its registered office is 60 Castle Rising Road, South Wootton, King's Lynn, PE30 3JD, and its business is given as taxi operation. That address is not 109 Norfolk Street. Trusted Travel Norfolk Limited is the company record.
The council treats planning permission and a private hire operator's licence as separate requirements. A firm that takes bookings needs an operator's licence, and the premises need permission to be used as a booking office. Private hire operators sets that out. This application does not decide a licence.
