An Idaho woman who was raped by her Lyft driver has sued the company, alleging negligent screening and passenger protection.
The Spokesman-Review / Idaho Statesman report Marla Meredith Winfery’s civil claim after Zkaria Mahmmd Al Majzoub was convicted in June of kidnapping, rape and forcible penetration over an August 2024 ride that left the planned route. The suit says other women had complained of sexual aggression, that Lyft under-screens drivers and lacks adequate cameras/monitoring, and seeks damages for lasting harm. Sentencing and the driver’s bid for a new trial over a DNA-lab issue were ongoing separately; Lyft has not been found liable in the civil case.
