A 16-year-old Highgate School pupil was killed when she was hit by a private-hire car on her way to school in north London.
The Met said officers were called to North Road, Highgate, about 08:15 on 24 September 2026. Melissa Premaratne was pronounced dead at the scene. A 68-year-old man stayed and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, later bailed. BBC and Evening Standard reporting identify the vehicle as belonging to Addison Lee; the company said facts were still being established. Family and school tributes followed. Witnesses and footage are sought. Allegations remain under investigation.
