Glasgow councillor: bouncer paid her taxi after spotting danger

Lana Reid-McConnell recalls Edinburgh club staff booking cab home during VAWG debate.

A Glasgow Green councillor has told a council debate how a club bouncer booked and paid for her taxi home after overhearing men she planned to walk with.

Glasgow Times reports Lana Reid-McConnell (Victoria Park) leading a violence-against-women-and-girls debate and describing an Edinburgh night about a decade ago. Friends left the other way; two men seemed to share her route. A bouncer asked to speak privately, said he had overheard them and did not believe she would be safe, then with the manager took her to a side exit and insisted on paying for a taxi. She said she was shocked then but has often felt grateful that he made getting her home safely his job.
