FreeNow by Lyft has rolled out new Ireland features aimed at airport queues, multi-stop jobs and map data — according to a company announcement carried by The Journal.
Airport FastPass
Drivers in the airport virtual queue often reject low-value jobs to keep their place after long waits. FastPass lets them take those trips in return for priority when they next return to the airport, via a FastPass queue that should get them another airport job sooner. FreeNow says that removes a barrier for arriving passengers who need a taxi.
Multi-stop and Fleetview
Multistop lets passengers add up to four intermediate stops in the app, with stops shown in the driver’s navigation. FreeNow support pages also describe reordering stops before the trip starts and note multi-stops can include airport pick-ups or drop-offs (not on fixed-fare products).
Fleetview is a mapping programme using a dedicated ground fleet with windshield devices to capture high-detail road data — lanes, signs and street objects — to feed FreeNow’s maps where public taxi-lane data is thin. Ireland GM Danny O’Gorman said localised data should improve ETAs and cut empty kilometres. FreeNow points to a GDPR-focused mapping privacy page at free-now.com/mapping.
This is vendor news, not an independent test of queue times. Drivers will judge FastPass on whether priority returns actually materialise after low-value airport exits.
