Florida man plea after smashing NYC taxi on Knicks night

Saul Vargas, 21, cited his birthday then took a disorderly-conduct deal and $500 restitution for June cab attack.

A Florida man who smashed a New York yellow cab after the Knicks’ Game 4 NBA Finals win has pleaded to disorderly conduct.

Saul Vargas, 21, of St Cloud was filmed shirtless jumping on the hood and roof and shattering the windshield near 36th Street and Seventh Avenue around 12.30am on 11 June. Driver Nasser Bitat said rioters pulled him from the cab and punched him. Vargas later told reporters it was his birthday and he was “being stupid.” He took a plea Thursday, was ordered to pay $500 restitution and faces a November compliance hearing. NY Post and Black Car News note French Montana and others raised funds for the driver’s repair; police had sought other suspects.
