Fife councillor questions Uber objection handling

Cllr Carol Lindsay asked why 431 submissions’ competency was not checked before Uber’s Rosyth licence hearing.

A Fife councillor has asked whether lessons can be learned after Uber’s Rosyth taxi booking-office licence was granted once 431 objections were ruled invalid.

STV reports Kirkcaldy North Cllr Carol Lindsay, a Regulation and Licensing Committee member, questioned whether competency was considered in agenda planning rather than emerging only when Uber’s solicitor challenged signatures and grounds mid-hearing. Committee legal advice held the objections incompetent; the application then passed unopposed. Council head of legal Lindsay Thomson has apologised and promised a process review. The substantive Uber approval and apology were covered separately in earlier TaxiFeed pieces.
