Ex-soldier jailed 18 months for Falkirk taxi assault

Douglas Hall, 41, repeatedly punched his partner in a cab after Icons bar; plus a 10-year non-harassment order.

Former soldier Douglas Hall, 41, has been jailed for 18 months for attacking a woman in the back of a taxi in Falkirk.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard Hall and the woman, whom he had dated for about six months, flagged a cab after leaving Icons bar. As they neared her Grangemouth home on 15 June 2024 he punched her four or five times to the head, arms and face. She ran off and called police; he was arrested the next day. Hall also admitted a course of domestic abuse including taking money from her account and demanding cash from her adult children. Defence cited Iraq tours and mental-health difficulties. Sheriff Keith O’Mahony added a 10-year non-harassment order covering her and her children.
