Absolute Cabs managing director Jaan G Saqlain is to receive the Farzand e Pakistan (“Son of Pakistan”) award at a London ceremony recognising overseas Pakistanis’ contributions.
The Doncaster Free Press says the East Laith Gate firm grew from five cars at its 2013 opening to more than 200 vehicles. Saqlain is dedicating the honour to Julie Kay, his co-worker who died earlier after motor neurone disease — symptoms first noticed at Graceland in 2024 — leaving daughters Laura and Ryan and grandchildren. He said they worked hard together on the Doncaster office launch and “this award is for her.”
